Polar HRM - Replacing the batteries

Has anyone in this forum had experience with changing the batteries in the Polar HRM? I have an S725 model and I am hesitant to ship it to Polar USA. I would prefer to have a local watchmaker change the battery. Your thoughts/direction would be appreciated. Thanks

If you want it to retain it's waterproofness, you will need to call Polar and get the name of a certified repair shop.

I think it would be a lot easier to mail the thing in. Include the chest strap and they'll replace the batteries in it too.

Do it yourself is a $5 battery and 5 minute job. Using small phillips head screw driver remove backing. Swap batteries clean the rubber seal and where it sits, replace rubber you will see how it fits one way only and replace backing. Done

Have done all my HRM,s for 10 years and many friends never had a leak or a problem. Sending to polar is a waste of time and money, it costs $20 or so and you can be without your HRM for 2+ weeks.

Before you start driving all over town looking for someone to replace your battery, just buy one online and do it yourself.. I called about 10 watch shops in my area and none of them carry the battery for the Polar 7 series watches..

They take a CR2354, panasonic battery preferred.. If a watch shop tries to sell you something else do not use it..

Radio shack has many HRM batteries. If you have Batteries Plus stores near you they have them too.

Yes, most everyone changes the battery on the watch itself and the chest transmitter has to go back to Polar. I took it to Walmart and got the battery near the Photo dept and changed it there myself with a small phillips screwdriver.

If you send the chest strap back you can buy one for a reduced price they do not change the battery in them. Otherwise you can pay more and buy in store but that is the reason to send it back as it is cheaper.
