Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My middle name will be...!

I'm Chinese, and I don't have a middle name. My first name's Eddy, and I was thinking of changing my middle name to Merckx, because I'm a poser, of course.

All in favor, say ''aye,'' all who oppose say ''nay.''

To hi565: Haha! Thanks, I thought of it while I was half-sleeping and talking to a friend who kept me awake long enough for me to watch The Matrix Reloaded with him. Wasn't worth watching it in the end, but at least I thought of my future AIM screen name!

To Markio: I believe it is ''Mercks.'' I used to think it was pronounced ''Merckix'' though. It really doesn't matter, as long you don't slaughter his name. He used to eat people, y' know...

Being named Merckx is just messed up. Better to be an original than a pale immitation of the original...

If you don't have a middle name you can't "change it" to something.

With a name like HolyInstantRice, the only middle name I can think of is "Uncle Ben".

yeah, but you can create something new and awesome. Although "Van Halen" would be a good second choice. Or even "Munster". That would be rockin' sweet.

But since he has a quote of mine as his sig, I gotta say "aye". (by the way, I wich I could remember the hilarious context from which that quote was derived - it had something to do with ravioli . . . )

What is it with the chinese and no middle names? I'll bet if you have a chinese name it's got 3 characters. So they think you need 3 names for chinese but only 2 for engrish?

.... I hate having to write NMI

oh, and nay. today a middle name, tomorrow an eye widening surgery. where will it end?

Nay. Use Merckx for a middle name now and most people will think its related to a drug company. Maybe it's not spelled quite the same, but you've probably noticed how well most people spell.

How about Danger or Winning or Success as middle names. Wouldn't it be cool to say "Danger is my middle name." ;o)

By the way, you have the same middle name as my "Anglo" father. He hasn't got one either.
