Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

DO IT! It's going to be an excellent race. Dane (guy who's not me) is a powerful racer.

Oo, man, that was some race. There was to be another stage (pantsless) after a few more drinks, but we passed out watching MTV2.

I've got to hit the Division St. Bath House before I can decide whether doing this again tonight is a good idea.

FUN FACTS TO KNOW AND TELL

Get this: on a fixed gear bike, if you take a corner too sharply, your pedal can hit the ground and...wait for it....TOTALLY COMPROMISE YOUR TRACTION. You might even crash! Be careful out there, kids! Especially if you're drunk and it's 4am and you actually know about pedal strike but decide to ignore it because, you know, it's 4am and you're drunk.

FYI

congrats... isn't it pretty hard to pedal strike on a pista?

I'm not sure I would have won stage 2 if Evan hadn't fallen, and Dane hadn't gone two blocks out of his way.

Imagine my disappointment when Lazo's wouldn't serve a pitcher of beer at 5:30 am postrace.

I really need to get more sleep.
