brake upgrade

i have cantilever brakes on my schwinn, and i reall dislike them. Is there a kit that upgrades to a v-brake setup or a u-brake setup?

V brakes will work on your existing posts, but U-brakes will not.

-what you need is a 990 plate like the one in this link: https://www.albes.com/index.asp?PageA...ROD&ProdID=138
-they also have a package with both the plate and the brake: https://www.albes.com/index.asp?PageA...ROD&ProdID=137

Expand your budget. We cannot help you further. If your bike does not have brake bosses brazed onto the frame, your best option is to buy a bike that does. Any bike that does not come from Wal-Mart has these nowadays. A brake plate will only serve to add weight and complexity; there is so much flex inherent in the system that you're better off staying with your sidepull calipers.

The brakes are in the for sale part. No lever. But there for sale.

Nevermind, do you have to be a like paying member to post in the for sale part?

yes im saving up for a redline mx20, but for right now since im short line almost 200 bucks i need a good braking system, weight isnt a big factor since im not into major tricks yet

Then keep what you have, save your money. Whatever you buy to jerry-rig your bike now will become useless if you buy a new bike. Money wasted.
