ripped pants - sorta off fixed topic
i used to ride my road bike at least every couple of days but i would always use cycling shorts. But since i came to college this year i have to ride my bike absolutely everywhere (which i actually like better now). I have collected a few bikes over the past months and useally ride my tall bike to class because i live so close (in the dorms) and i dont want a nice bike to get stolen, as my friends fuji road bike was last week. Anyways, i have managed to rip the crotch out of every single pair of jeans i own and am getting pretty sick of having to sow constantly. Does anyone have any solutions to this!?

let 'em rip. It's good for the airflow. Rolling up the legs and opening up that crotch is what the doctor ordered to cure swampass (i hear there's a real epidemic in texas)

Don walker is a member here and a frame builder. Amazing frame builder actually.
Odds of you knowing any of my friends are bad. But if you hear people talking about houston conroe or the woodlands you can ask them if they know Jamtastic...

i have the same problem running through pants. i just found these:
triple layer seat
pants that have three layers of breathable waterproof nylon. it might do the trick. at least you would only have to sew 1/3 as much.
or i see a lot of ppl in boston with a piece of thick material (maybe made from an old mess bag) square that hangs from their belt in the back. i imagine its to sit on but not quite sure

also you can beat the problem before it starts by patching the pants before they rip. like as added defense

i thought it was pretty much understood that at some point jeans rip. i don't find it strange that bike saddles cause crotch wear.

You must be a pretty popular guy. All those areas including houston are what 4-6 million.
