Tour of California- Stage 2- Feb. 21, 2006 (Place all Spoilers here!)

Stage Two: Tuesday, Feb. 21
The race will next turn south toward two decisive days in San Jose. After neutral parade laps in the start city of Martinez, the stage is a hilly ride through the East Bay that will bring the race over its first significant climb. Coming 22 miles before the finish line in downtown San Jose, the Sierra Road climb east of the city center will be the first Category One (highest ranked in order of difficulty) ascent in the King of the Mountains competition.

Yes! I'm going to see the last part of this stage! My dad works in downtown San Jose, right where the race loops, so I'm ditching school early to go see it.

Those are some really fun roads to ride on! Although climbing redwood heading the opposite way is more difficult in my opinion. Fun place to be is after they pass golf course, after it there is a short by somewhat steep hill. Again going the other way the hill is as steep, but longer.

Hey, just got this message from the play-by-play on their website: Knock wood, we have a live video feed from the motorcycles today.

Does this mean we get a live feed today?

You probably already know this, but... Go to velonews.com or cyclingnews.com. Both sites have live commentary (text, no video or audio).

Edit: nevermind.

live feed seems to be working. No sound and choppy picture, but pretty damn good for a start.

I have fuzzy coverage on ESPN and my video playing laptop isn't connecting to the internet today. Hopefully I'll get a connection soon.

I got it running on the old Tank but its really choppy. I'm very very suprised its working.

Buffering messages make me antsy.

Cbs5.com has some live feed from a helicopter. There’s no commentary though.

Just came back from seing the Peloton at the KOM sprint just before Lafayette. A lot of people along the road, many with their bikes. Two escapees were a bit in front of the main group, one rider from Team TIAA-CREF, then a rider from T-Mobile 10-15 seconds behind, and then the Peloton about 20-25 seconds behind.
The Specialized Angel was there and was getiing a lot of attention.

Looks like Hincapie is going to take the overall lead. I like it! I want to see the jersey keep going back and forth.

Ok, I think I've set this up correctly. Two video clips from Pinehurst Road in Oakland, California today, as we watched the Tour whiz by.

One is of the three breakaway leaders at that point, and the other is of the peloton... plus the whole train of vehicles that followed. (The vehicles took longer to pass than the peloton.)

Fun day!

So... IF I have set up this trackerless torrent correctly, you can see 'em via the link here:

(edit -- torrent didn't work. I'm removing bad link, and will repost as new message in this thread. Sorry!)

Please seed! 43MB total, .avi, digicam-quality video, couple of minutes altogether.

-Greg

I think they're just getting more traffic than they had planned for and can handle. I hope that's the case, at least.

I heard there were protesters on Palomeres with signs "not on our roads." What a bunch of tools.
They are California equivalent of red necks.
