???

As old as THAT?

If you are as old as THAT, what does that make me, and a bunch of the rest of us in our 60's and 70's and 80's?

I think I will go and get under the covers and just pout!

Didn't mean it that way! I feel better than I did in my 30's and cycling is a major part of that. That and getting off the coffin nails.

The longer you are off of the "coffin nails" the more your
body will heal and clean itself out of the toxins.

There will be times when you crave puff a butt just remember
the above. Everytime you slip you start over at ZERO.

Been there , done that, 13 yrs ago, feel really great now!!

All the best , mate.

Been off of them for 9 yrs now. The only time I ever get the urge is after a good meal in a restaurant and someone lights up across the room and you get that first whiff.

Welcome to the 53 group!! So far it is turning out to be a vintage year!! Congratulations for kicking the nails as well....although many people have made a living on making the product in my homestate (NC), I really hate to hear of folks that cannot abstain.

Isn't our goal to be able to ride a century as a birthday ride**********?

Happy Birthday, crazyb.

I've been cycling more lately than I have in quite while. 16 miles a day commuting. 12 mile ride here, 3 miles there, etc. It's been cold and a lot of wind. I'm only 51, but my body is feeling older of recent.

Come out with our group on our hills when the 30 year olds decide to have a slow ride. Then you will start feeling Older- Till you get to the 4th hill when the youngsters drop back to keep you company and the 5th hill when they discover the gears don't work- or they might have a puncture So "Catch you Up" or the 6th hill when you get cold waiting for them to catch you up. That is when I start feeling younger- Providing I don't throw in that 7th hill.

As others have said, good on you -- and keep going: you'll never regret it. Will be 55 September next, didn't resume riding until 51, after a 25 year hiatus; now, can't see stopping again absent something beyond my control. As with many others, cycling has also helped me (finally) give up the bloody cigs.

Crazyb,
Way to go!!
I'll be with you in a week or so, 3/8/53. The way I've been riding I feel 53 and then some.
My day will include my BIRTHDAY ride of 54 miles, you know, an extra mile to help me grow an inch. Not around the belly!! Then, I'll bring out the Monte #2 with a proper dram of whisky, Laphroig 10 year. My idea of a PIE Ride.

Congrats on the upcoming event. I celebrated mine with a tumbler of ST. Etienne on the rocks.
