You would know for sure that those cables are NOT on your bike if the bilke is not a road bike that has had the cables replaced since April 03. If it is and the biker isn't sure, take it back and let the repair place determine what they installed and replace accordingly.
Or if you install your own cables and have no idea what they were when you did it (like me), then you're in trouble.
Well, I'm not in trouble, replaced all my cables in 2005.
