11.28.02 Thanksgiving in Yosemite National Park

After a tasty omelet breakfast, we regretfully tied up Miette and took off to Yosemite National Park to look for a nice hike. We stopped by the visitor’s center and got some information on some day hikes and decided to take a stroll around the valley where views of El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, Three Brothers, and Sentinel Rock could be enjoyed at an easygoing pace. The air was crisp and cool. Fortunately, because it was so late in the year, the park wasn’t very crowded. During our hike, I snapped some photos of the giant granite mountains around us. Because we started a bit late in the day, we didn’t get much sunshine on us. After a few hours and a nice loop in the valley, we made it back to the car. We got home just after dark and Miette was very glad to see us. I made some calls to my family and wished them a happy thanksgiving. I took the rest of the crab and separated it from the shell to put into a quiche. While I baked the quiche, I fixed up some other stuff for dinner and then we popped in another movie called Rushmore. While we didn’t take part in a huge family get together, or eat ourselves into a coma, I considered today to be one of the best Thanksgivings I’ve had recently. Beautiful mountains, stress free living, what more could you ask for. I was very thankful.

Peace

Dave
