What do you think of this frame?
Now, I know this frame is not "nice" by any stretch of the imagination.
I'm more just wondering if the frame is total garbage or not.
It wouldn't be for me, just a frame to have and build up for whoever in the future.
I can get it for $35 (down from $50).
I know there are no identifying markers so quality will be almost impossible to determine and that paint is obviously not original. I'm just curious if anyone has any thoughts.

my buddy built up a 35$ nishiki that looks exactly like that and it looks awesome. he get complimented on it everytime i'm with him. go with it.

its a pretty typical mid 70's road bike. though if its not french, which it doesnt' look like it is, its probably real nice. these make the best fixie, and if they are of nice quality (light, nice geometry, etc).
this board is divided between fixie-riders and track riders. with new parts, this would make a great fixie.

I did notice that lack of rear brake hole, which is odd.
It looks to me as if the seat post binder bolt is an allen, but I don't know for sure.
The stamped drop outs and kick stand plate don't bother me, because, as I said, I wont be riding this bike.

How can you not? Pretty soon you'll want to keep it. And total Columbo on the filled in brake hole. You should look at that.

i found a sekai frame that looks similar to that in the garbage outside my building...it could use a new paint job and is kind of heavy, but still it's always cool to find a frame. keep your eyes out.

It's a lower-end frame judging by the stamped kickstand plate and dropouts. Looks like a good enough gamble for the price. And lugged is sexy.

not a bad ride..I would try to get more of a complete bike for a little more money...But it is a starting point. It looks likea raleigh clone

Agree with wasabiboys. Pass, unless you really like it. I think you could go into any good will store or used bike store and pick up a similar COMPLETE bike, for a few more bucks.

Obviously, somebody fixed this bike at some point and chopped off the der. hanger and filled the brake hole before the paint (powdercoat?). It looks decent and I just love the all-white frame&fork (my bike's like that, too). So I'd go for it. I guess you could get many bikes like that cheap, but with this one, you don't have to bother with painting, removing cable stops etc.
Fender eyelets are nice to have, too.

ps : wait for a nicer one.
edit : unless it used a bolt-on claw for the rear derailleur. that's entirely plausible, i guess.

why go for a complete bike? i'm willing to guess if you get a complete bike for a few bucks more, most of the parts won't really be desireable anyway.

I'm really just on the lookout for cheap parts to stock my workroom with and this fits the bill pretty nicely.
99% of the goodwill stores around me only have female cruiser pieces of garbage.
