lazy?

Recently I’v not been ride my bike as often as I used to, I don’t know if it’s working a full working week after a month holiday or am I just getting lazy? I do still go to the gym 5 days a week. But when I do get a free hour or two I choose the couch over my bike. Lazy? . Has this happened to you?

A bike-related thread in Foo!

That happened to me the last month, too. I've ridden here and there, but my main riding (lots of climbing, 15-70 miles) has been basically non-existent. I'm working on getting back into it now, though.

Nothing wrong with some time vegging on the couch. Just don't make it all you do.

I got rid of the 2nd car over 20 years ago, so it forces me to commute to work. If the weather is treacherous, my wife will run me to work. You can't procrastinate if you don't have any other option.

shikaka, just as a follow-up, I got out for a long-ish ride (50 miles/80 kilometers) for the first time in about a month today. Having basically not exercised for a month, I was a bit slow and the last 10 miles were a bit painful, but it was fun.

I suggest you give it a bit of time and then think about all the reasons you like to ride, and then hopefully, you'll be back on your bike soon enough. And it seems like you're managing to stay in shape in the meantime, so a short break is no big deal.

Yeah, it happened to me recently. In my case I rode more than my body was ready to handle and was starting to burn out. I cut down to riding 3 days a week for an hour instead of 4 days a week for about 2 hours while still maintaining my regular weightlifting and pilates regimen. Rides are fun again and with working part-time again, school stuff, and responsibilties at home I find myself looking forward to those short rides days in advance

Thats funny, I was kinda going through the same thing, I didn't ride my bike for the past 13 days, which is a lonnnggg time for me. 5 of those days I was away in chicago, the other 7 I was just laying around at my parents house for spring break. I don't have a bike there, so that can be my excuse I guess. I did just get back from my late night ride, so I do feel better, and I was surprised i wasn't as out of shape as I thought I'd be

It's just human nature. It's a rare person who will walk up the steps when a functioning escalator is right there too.

Maybe you could cut down on the number of days at the gym to 3 and then get in more bike time.

When my husband & I were in Las Vegas, we walked everywhere, would NEVER take the escalator unless we had no choice. We got some strange looks, especially from the people on the moving side walk--talk about lazy!
