Well it has finally gotten warm here on the high plains around Laramie, Wyoming. As some of you know, my hometown is 7200 feet above sea level and it stays winter here for a loooonnnnggggg time. But yesterday and today it is up in the sixties. Still cold at night though. Started my ride this morning at 7:15, 31 degrees and light wind from the south. Got in 50 miles at 18 mph over gently rolling terrain (except for four short 7% hills). Miles 40-45 were a bit tough; slightly uphill and a 10mph headwind. But, this is the earliest I have been able to do 50 miler and it was satisfying.

I am over in Bozeman, MT, about 5000 feet. Its getting warm here, in the 60's but 20-30 mph winds every afternoon. I am afraid to ride as I have to go for a few miles on a vary busy highway, and the winds blowing around like a rag doll.

There's less wind a little south in Ft. Collins, but is it my imagination or has this been a really windy spring? I know we set records for wind this past winter -- I think it was something like 20 days with 20mph winds in January. I'm probably not getting that quite right, but it was REALLY windy, and it seems like this spring has been worse than normal.

Been horribly windy here this winter. But that wind has resulted in higher than normal temps. Perversely, the wind has to blow for it to warm up. NOT good for bike riding. You guys in Ft Collins do get less wind and warmer temps, but I would not take those if they came with your traffic.

Excellent ride-especially given the temps. When you do get some warmer weather you're going to be flying.

Wind steady at 37 mph gusting to 47. No riding this afternoon. Looks like snow tonight, and very windy through Wednesday evening.

Yep, Weather went to crap over here on Sunday. Hope it gets better by midweek. Maybe the winds will die down. 30+ mph on my Saturday ride. going up one hill, a modest one by any standards, I was only able to go 5 mph. At least for a few miles I was averaging 27 mph. Sadly I got home and had to turn off.

Looking good here today. Already 43 and NO WIND. Headed out in a few minutes for an easy ride in preparation for 60 tomorrow.

I just got back from spring turkey hunting in the Black Hills...4 ft of snow and 70 mph winds...glad I left the road bike at home!

My office mate here is from Gillette, Wyoming and hasn't yet fully acclimatized himself to our brutal southern AZ winters. He keeps telling me these stories about Wyoming cyclists freezing upright at intersections, dragging dead buffalo behind their commuters, and riding circular routes with violent headwinds in all directions. I am amuzed though when he skips a ride because of a little wind or chill here.

Just got back from 57 mile ride. 2000 ft climbing, 18.4 mph. 41 degrees when I left, 14 miles 8-10 mph cross wind, 14 miles 12-14 mph head wind. Turn around, 16 miles cross tail wind 12-14 mph, 12 miles cross wind 6-8 mph. Temp when I got back 59. It was a really nice ride. By the way 57 miles, no stop signs, no stop lights, great views of the Rocky Mountains (Medicine Bow Range and Rawah Range). Probably saw max of 20 cars and couple hundred head of antelope.

As soon as spring hits, winter is back. 72degrees, windless and sunny yesterday. I rode a nice 50mi. Snowing to beat theband today, about 6 inches so far. Drat!
