front derailleurs with BIG tooth capacity
I'm looking for a 9-speed front derailleur, top pull, that can handle a 52-38-26 setup. On an 8 speed, I got this type of crank setup working with an old XTR FD-M901 (and a 105 SC rear with 12-21 cassette). Yeah, it's going outside of it's spec of 22T capacity, 48T max, but it actaully worked pretty well. Then my bike got stolen So I'm building a better one, with 9 speed this time. Has anyone tried someting similar on a 9 speed setup? If the new 9 speed FDs just cant handle going outside of spec, what'll happen if I try to use the M901 with a 9 speed crank and chain? Thanks.

I'm using that gearing range on a 9-speed Ultegra crank with 52/42/26 chainrings and a 105 9-speed triple fd and it works just fine. However the 105 is a bottom pull (as are almost all road fds) so I don't know what top pull derailleur will work.
