a funny story

I went on a long hard mtb ride last night at the local state park. About halfway though the loop i took a swig of the Gatorade and most fell over: it tasted di-gus-ting-ly sweet and gross . it was like 10x Koolade concentrate. i was thinking gads! i must be super-dehydrated or something for this stuff to taste so sweet.
i motored through, taking small sips and grimacing at the grossness, wondering what the hades was wrong with me. At a water stop i diluted it down, maybe 2 oz of the stuff in a big bottle, much better.
Then i get home at take a look at the bottle. The big Lemon-Lime Gatorade bottle was unopened, but the (similar looking) Mr&Mrs T's Sweet&Sour mix bottle was most empty! doh!

Be happy it was that. I brought some Kerosene home in a water bottle once and forgot I'd done so. Obvious consequence on my next commute.

What you describe is my view of Gatorade anyway. I can't stand the stuff.

Did a ride a few years ago and missed my backup crew at the food stop. One of the other teams offered to fill our water bottles and they gave us a powerbar- They are disgusting. Constituency of cardboard- highly sweet artificial taste and once chewed- they will not go away. Took a big swig out of the water bottles to find they had filled them with their favourite energy drink--"Maxim" Only good point about it was that it washed the powerbar down the throat. It was as bad a taste as the powerbar. Mind you- we did cover the next twenty miles to the next food stop in record time- but think that was down to wanting our own proper food, and not the "Powerfoods"We were given.
