randomness abounds: riding fixed and working in the fire sprinkler industry.

ok, file this one under "that is so astoundingly random," but...

two people whom I met at the MnG happen to work in the fire sprinkler installation industry.
and ride fixed.
they're also both super nice people.

hmm.
coincidence?

i wonder if anyone aside from cardstock and kiecker have this random bit in common? it sort of blew my mind.

kiecker living in LA has a whole extra section of the NFPA book to deal with that I don't need to really bother with here.

Section "9.3 Protection of Piping Against Damage Where Subject to Earthquakes"

now is the time to come to new york for that work. Local Law 26 (i think), which is part of the world trade center task force requires revamping of most fire sprinklers in NYC by 2012 or something like that.

Not in the fire-sprinkler industery per se, but I have spec'ed them for a few projects, have placed them in plans, and know the difference between dry-pipe and preaction systems.

yeah, they passed something a few years ago here as well that requires all commercial buildings be retro fitted with sprinkler systems by 2016 i think. And there are alot of them that need it.
