...you notice all kinds of "places to go" when first biking down a path that you've only previously walked.

...you're on a nice quiet ride with your girlfriend and she says "Get out of the ditch!" more than three times.

Make darn sure you're both wearing protection.

Like helmet, gloves, glasses, a sixsixone pressure suit...

and make sure your bedshox are pumped to spec.

This is more cycling related than MTB specific, but when your bike is worth more than your car.
When i got my Titus it MSRPed for twice the value of my car (Then only chumps and christmas shoppers pay retail, mine cost about 40% less than MSRP)
/I now have a new car, bike's the same though

With our potholes, I have to clip out of my gas pedal. Just in case.

Or, when you dont even own a car, but a mad collection of bikes. (I currently own 8, everything from 3 trials bikes, 2 roadies, 1 urban assult, 2 big hit downhill bikes. Neighboors think I'm out of my frekkin mind; which is a understatment.
As for me, I have owned 1 car, and it sat in my garage for 6 months until I traded it for a dirt bike. Which I destroyed.

You sell your used (un-scratched) CD's to fix those pesky broken parts.

Quit jobs because you cant miss the big group out of town ride....

99% of your paycheck goes to bike stuff....

Girlfriends tend to leave you because you spend more time with your bike than you do her.

You are very happy when your parents are going to buy you a bike for college instead of a car.

My wife has nicknamed my mtn bike "the other woman" and my cross bike "the mistress". All you need to do is find the right woman!

So true. Or I'll see a mtn bike on the top of a car, and pay more attention to that then the road...
