Inexpensive fixed gear. You'd probably do better with a Bianchi for about $200 more.
I have a similiar bike and wished I had gotten the Bianchi.

People are a little tired of answering the same question about the mercier, so don't mind everyone's reaction. As stated earlier, use the search and u'll see days and days worth of reaction. I have it, for the prices it's great. I have a 1500 track bike that I don't even use as often as the mercier, maybe it's because i can throw it up against anything and chain it down. The parts are ok for the first couple of months, but u'll eventually are going to start upgrading, the frame is pretty as f**k so get it, just get it and make sportymama richer than she already is

decent frame, but you'll probably end up replacing other parts..probably the wheels first. I don't have any firsthand experience, but I've heard bad stories about the hubs.

Any Dawes, Motobecane, Mercier, or Windsor fixie is a BikesDirect.com bike; they've got like 30,000 eBay accounts they use to make it look like there are lots of people buying and selling them.
They aren't *bad*, per se, they just aren't top dollar.

The cog is definitely not if it's 3/32.
And I would be shocked if the Mercier came stock 1/8inch.

It's threads like this that keep me from comming back to bike forums. People not searching through the forums before they start new ones.
Looks like I havn't missed much.

What a crock! If everyone who had questions just searched the forums, there'd be no discussion. Plus... maybe, just maybe, people have joined the forums since the last thread on a Mercier (bad example as of late, I know, but just go with me here) who might contribute to this thread that SinCityCycler would miss out on had he just done a forum search.
So here's a novel idea, instead of turning BikeForums.com into BikeSearchableReferences.com, why not just ignore the threads that are re-hashes of already discussed topics?
