Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

bridgeport mystery bike

for months, i was the lonely only fixed gear rider in my city. then i met the other one.

tonight i was leaving a summit on the state of public education in bridgeport and what should be locked to the pole that my bike was locked to, but a raleigh rush hour. with spoke cards.

who is this third biker, this mystery person who is involved in community affairs and rides fixed? am i fated to never know? or will i find out on June 3rd?

now, if you'll excuse me, back to my midweek bottle of wine.

i understand your excitement.

the only place i've seen another track bike is the bianchi pista that's been hanging in my local bike shop's window for months.

i've always wanted to be a suburban teenage detective who solves crimes using mathematics.

until i hated teenagers, suburbs, math, and started enjoying crime.

The photo is broken on the link.

Oh, and stupid scheduling conflicts have arisen that make my attendance at the alleycat unpossible.

i'm sure you'll figure something out so that you can do both. remember the episode of Lois and Clark when they made a hologram of superman so that he and clark kent could be in the same place at the same time? you're an engineer: get to work.

Maybe if you had a magical pen that helped you solve the mysteries you'd get back into it. Anybody??
