Hi from Canada
Just thought I'd check out this forum. There may be a few of you who know me from the Bicycling Forum.
Who am I?
I'm a Randonneur (long distance cyclist) from Canada training for the Paris-Brest-Paris this summer . . . and always looking for tips from other long distance cyclists.

Hi Machka. Welcome. Antonius from Vancouver. I've read many of your posts on the other Bicycling forum. Great to see you here. I've found this forum a much nicer and mature place to be.
Still riding to and from work this month? How is the snow and cold or is Winnipeg having balmy temps like us in the west?

Hi Triker! Glad to see you over here. I hope things are going well for you. Have you any plans to cycle northward this coming summer?
Hi amerpie! Are you planning to do your first century this coming weekend? If so . . . all the best! Let me know how it goes.
Hi antonius! It's very cold here in Winnipeg - there's some sort of cold air mass that has stalled over Winnipeg bringing temps down into the -20Cs and windchill factors into the -30Cs. I haven't ridden to and from work this week, but I did last week (when it was a touch warmer). I'm seriously considering riding tomorrow. If the windchill is above -30C, I think I will.
I'm thinking about doing something "different" this weekend. I'd like to cycle out to a park about 15 kms away to do some snow biking . . . and maybe even take my new snowshoes with me, and do some of that out there too. Sort of a winter duathalon! If I decide to do that, I'll have to figure out the easiest way to carry the snowshoes.

Hello,
I'm the token Edmonton guy among the Canadians in the forum. I don't think anyone else is from Edmonton here.

Hi again Machka, took me a while to catch up again. I'm mostly into road, recreational (MS Ride etc.) riding with some commuting thrown in. I'm going to try and do more commuting this year (40k one way).

mikey and aerobat --
-- ever done, or considered doing, any long distance rides?
-- and have either of you raced (road)? I'm just wondering if we might have met somewhere along the way.

No racing for me, and the longest I've ridden recently is the MS 150 ride to Gimli, with some recreational rides in the local area of 80-100 km.

Machka,
No racing for me either, though I am a fan of long rides. 200 km would certainly be the longest for me. My best in 2002 was 173 km. Thanks for the info, I'll bear it mind.
