Woo hoo! Closing sales rock.
The Performance store near me is being closed. For a while I've intended to swing by and see if there were any discounts, but now that I'm moving to philly I knew I needed a U-lock so I decided to stop in and get one. Turns out they're closing TOMORROW, everything left was 70% off!
I got some chain lube, the U-lock (OnGuard "STD", is that a good one? It was the smallest (dimension wise, not shackle thickness) they had, they didn't have any mini u-locks), bar tape, a bottle cage... and pedals! They had a pair of xpedo "Mountain Force SL CR" pedals, SPD compatible. Normally about $55, I got them for $7.50 (in addition to the 70% discount, the package had been opened and the cleats were missing... so I got a "damaged" discount ).
Anyone know if they're good pedals? For $7.50 I was like who cares I'll just take 'em.
Anyway for less than the full price of just the u-lock ($29.99) I got an entire bag of stuff ($21.80).

Crap Jeff, I thought I had sent you an e-mail a couple weeks ago to let you know, then when I saw this post and started thinking about it, I realized that I hadn't. Good catch on the pedals, most of them got shipped out.
I won't tell you what all I walked away with...but if you need any wheels trued before you ship out, give me a buzz...

Haha... that's awesome. Naw, I knew they were closing, and they'd told me the date, I just forgot it was coming up so soon (the craziness involved in moving is frying my brain!). Looks like the OnGuard Bulldog STD (the ulock I got) rated a Silver on that giant-page-of-lock-ratings and also got a "Best sub-$30" lock from someone else... so I might go back tomorrow morning and pick up a couple more (at $9 apiece you can't say no ). I'm pretty sure they had at least 2 or 3 more in that size, plus they had a bunch of larger ones. Amy and Austin'll be needing to lock up their bikes from time to time too...

Corporate decision, I guess it wasn't making enough money. It's not a "entire chain shutting down" situation or anything.
