I'd luv to pick Floyd for anything, but it would be because I like him alot. I'm not sure he's quite there yet to do a 3 week grand tour. Maybe next year.
Jan? Nice guy, but seems to be going through the motions currently.
But who knows, there's so many good contenders, it should be a battle royal. Hopefully will shape into the best tour in many years.

I'm not sure about the time gaps, but this podium group in this order would not be a surprise to me. Basso looked so dominant in the Giro that it is hard to pick against him and he has a VERY string team. Jan is clearly pointing toward July and this year's course favors him with its emphasis on the ITT so he should be right up there. Dave Z could be a surprise since he is such a great ITT rider, but Landis showed early in the season that he might have the stuff to place high. This should be a very entertaining TdF. As mush as I like Lance, he did make the TdF very boring except for the year when he and Jan were very close and Jan crashed in the penultimate ITT stage in the rain.

I like to root for Hincappe, Levi and Landis as they are fellow Americans; so it would be nice to see them up there. Landis has focused on it (ala Lance), Hincappe is a little old and I can't believe Levi can win again after just a couple weeks rest. For much the same reason I think Basso (who I believe to be the best in the world currently); can't win two grand tours in one year. If Basso can in fact win two grand tours that would be some acomplishment.
I think this years' Tour De France will be a wild (re: attack, attack, attack and attack again) tour which is why I chose that type of rider: Vinokourov.

Hard not to pick Basso to win he has had a good season and has a powerful team backing him. Leipheimer has been very impressive this spring, but I don't think his team is strong enough to support him to win in Paris. Ullrich will ride strong but bad luck will again keep him out of the top spot.

My heart goes with Jan U. -- how can anyone not like/pull for Lance's loveable bridesmaid?!? He's incredibly talented but, like most of the rest of us, wonderfully flawed, and there is hope -- he did look rather unJanlike in the Giro (i.e. rode very well, and blew away in the ITT). Jan aside, I'd like to see Basso do the double -- a bit of a throwback to the days of 'all around' riders. Lance was/is magnificent, but no question part of his success was his focus on the one big event.

This is a tough year to pick a favorite. I'd like to see Jan win one more...he's sort of a sentimental favorite and his competitive cycling time is nearing an end. I'd like to see Floyd or Levi or George win also, and with the exception of Floyd, their cycling careers are winding down as well.
