In honor of TDF I pedaled 100 miles (and I have proof)
Well in honor of the start of the Tour de France I pedaled 100 miles yesterday. My legs are doing pretty good today, but my butt is killing me! I'll spare you all the details of my butt pain. It's not pretty!

Well done for a youngster. 100 miles is an achievement in any ones book. Now try it offroad.
Sounds as though I am putting your achievement down but I am not. 100 miles is a ride you have to gear up to- you have to train for and you have to feed for. Unfortunately there are plenty of older riders that have the time on their hands- and the experience to do this as a matter of course. So when do you do it again? or will this be your last for a while? What training did you do to be able to do it? and how much did you enjoy it?

I really only do one century a year. And it kills me every time. I do it every summer, just to know that I still can. My only preparation is to consistently ride two or three times per week, throughout the year, with my typical ride being about 23-30 miles. The first 50 miles for me are generally easy. But by mile 70 I'm starting to feel it. By mile 85 I'm ready to collapse. And by mile 92, I'm a corpse on wheels. By that time it’s very clear to me that it’s all mental. By the way I tried to eat and drink a lot on the ride, but I was pretty light headed for the last 5-10 miles which probably accounts for the mental suffering, which means I probably didn’t take in enough calories. Well hopefully my butt is better because I’ve got a 60 mile ride scheduled for the July 4th, but I’ll to the 28 mile option if I’m not feeling perfect. Then, my next century won’t be until summer of 2007.

Nah, it's just a really short century.
Okay okay. It's a half century.
Except the part near golden colorado had some nice grades. Nothing like a killer grade while hauling the kid.
