accuracy of hrm calories burned?
just wondering how accurate HRM's are for calories burned.
just got mine today, took a ride, and i was very pleased... my bpm correlated pretty closely with perceived effort.

not sure how accurate but my polar is far more concervative than the cardio machines at the health club. The machines usually read 30-50% more calories burned, even the ones that have u punch in age and weight. My guess is that the elliticals, treadmills, and bikes read high to make them appear more valuable than they really are. I'm guessing that my polar is the more accurate of the 2.

Throw the stick!!!!
I have had three heart rate monitors. The only one I even remotely trust is my polar s725. It shows about 1/3 to 1/2 of the calories burned as the phase and the sigma heart rate monitors that I used prior on the same type workouts.
