training after being sick
Gday All. I have just had three weeks off due to being sick. I was wondering should i take it easy for a while or just get straight back into it.. I had a stomach bug but i am 100% now. I ride 50 klm 5-6 times a week;

Not sure, but maybe, if you have a schedule, track back to where you got sick and start at the beginning of your rest week. If not, just work back up to your 50k distance. How fast you get back depends on how fit you were before and how many years of fit riding you've had under your belt.

I tried riding right after a stomach bug. I forgot to figure in how depleted my glycogen stores were after being sick and not eating. I could not eat enough to try to keep the legs moving after the first 30 miles. Take it easy for the first day or two.

Don't go too hard too soon...you'll just end up getting sick again shortly down the road. I've made that mistake plenty of times. Give it about two weeks before you're back to your "normal" riding schedule. Go easy.
