Ceramic Brake Pads
I picked up a set of Mavic Crossmax wheels today and the seller gave me 2 sets of XTR ceramic brake pads in the deal (as well as 3 Python tubless tires... 2 were brand new)!!!! I have to tell someone about my deal
My questions are, do you have to run ceramic pads with ceramic coating?
Are they a harder compound pad?
Thanks in advance for your replies. I use this forum whenever I need info on my bikes.

I just bought some MAvic x517 ceramic rims on xtr hubs today :-D we rock
got some xtr pads too... and the bike shop owner (from whom i purchased the wheels) said i could run regular pads but they'll wear much much quicker since they're softer and if you don't watch it you'll run metal on metal and fux0r the rim. so you run ceramic pads which are much harder and last much longer

Thanks for the reply. I have been wanting crossmax wheels for a while, but I wanted a deal. I haven't ridden them (other than a few quick laps around my hose), but they sure seem sweet. I've had a set of crossrocs for a few years and they have held up real well. Mavic 517's are really nice rims... and XTR is my favorite acronym!!!! Congrats!
