Commercial break, chunks of coverage lost?

So Im watching last nights tape of the days racing.....30 miles left - cut to commercial and when they get back - 12 miles left! Another break at 11 miles - come back 3.9 miles left? I know there climbing and it slows the coverage, but that was really odd, many things missed - one or two points when Landis put the heat on was missed. Anyone else notice this?

"Enhanced" coverage at night edits down 6 hours of riding into 2 or so hours of coverage. There will be jumps in time

Plus, you get the enlightening commentary of Bob and Al instead of the oh-so-not-American voices of Phil and Paul. Count your blessings! Thanks OLN! <sarcasm!>

First it was last night's tape, now it's not last night's coverage but the morning airing? Huh?

I Tivo'd the morning coverage, watched it last night, and noticed no such gap. I did notice they seemed to mistakenly cut to a commercial - they just cut off Phil in midsentence - and when they came back after the single commercial without the usual "cyclism" bit it looked like a rider had crashed and a car almost ran him over - but Phil was still talking as if there had been no commercial break.

Does everyone have to endure those awful Geico commercials with the gecko? I'm so glad I can just skip right past them - if I couldn't I might have driven myself to Geico's headquarters and started kicking things.

I kinda miss the little kid surfing porn commercial from last year... The look on the kids face was great!!!

But we shouldn't get too critical. OLN is not making much money this year.

Actually, I don't think we're missing out on anything- I listen to Eurosport with the television turned down (not because I want to- I work at a fitness club, and the televisions are turned down, so I can't ever hear what's said on television anyway). During the breaks, they're not talking very much, unless they're speculating on something. And as much as I am thankful for eurosport.com, they just aren't as good as Phil and Paul.

But to reiterate ... the live coverage from France 2/3 is the same span of clock time as OLN's live race coverage. The originators have virtually NO interruptions. OLN's interruptions - commercial and otherwise (lots of otherwise) - therefore take the place of live shots from the origin.

Working from home today and following along with the text updates from cyclingnews.com, there reached a point on the final climb where I just HAD to go check out the television feed for the stage. I'm pretty sure I watched for at least 20 minutes where OLN did not go to commercial. It was most excellent.

I wonder if they'll slice and dice it up on the good ol' Enhanced Coverage tonight?? Hmmm....

Several times (in four hour segments) they have loaded up early on commercials to give longer stretches at crucial points.

Yes...that happened to me too! Comcast cable?? OLN mistake?? But all of a sudden.....BAM...they're in the middle of Alpe D'Huez....Floyd attacking! It happened with both the morning live coverage and the afternoon's replay. It seemed to be worked out by 8:00pm....the night coverage showed the start of the Alpe.
weird
