Pedals - it's gotta be Campagnolo SGR.
Like the Delta calipers they are heavy, overengineered, finished beautifully and don't work that great. Unlike the Deltas they can be purchased cheaply.

Highly contankerous But classics!
I think Clips and Straps on the build may allow me to ride this bike the way I want to, that is I can just jump on it with sneakers and tool around, or go for ice cream with the family without looking like a hardcore biker
If that doesn't work, then it will be SPD style clip-less

I got home today and some more parts had arrived.

These are cool looking!
NOS C-Record Levers with Powergrade. Unfortunately they were loose stock (which I knew), and the white hoods looked pretty beat looking when I got them. Apparently they were sitting loose in a barrel, so I got them for a great price, however I got 2 left or 2 right levers. This isn't really critical, as they seem symmetrical either way, and internally there doesn't seem to be a difference. I'll contact the seller once I find out for sure.

The bike is looking great and you are doing a fantastic job of finding period specific parts. I didn't know that brake levers from that era were left and right. I still have some spare cable housing like that.
I used to build wheels but gave up when I stopped having to build them regularly (like twice a year). Remember when aluminum tubular rims for training would last a season at best?

Thanks for your comments Cleave. You are correct, 55/Rad has confirmed it for me as well, that the levers are the same with out a specific L-R.
That cable housing sets come up on ebay every now and then. This derailleur one was made for this period of bike as it has the smaller insert to fit into the cable stop on the chain stay, and the other end fits right into the derailleur, perfect!
I never build tubulars, but I have built 2 sets of wheels in the past. I road bike set and a MTB set. You are right, I really don't need to build them myself, I just wanted to.

I remember when I was 17 and got my C Record hubs, identical to those in the pic. "sniff" wish I was still that skinny, had that much hair and could ride that fast.
Coolest looking hubs ever IMO
Remember that there's a special tool for taking the dust covers off the hubs when it comes time to pull them apart for a regrease/service. PITA.

Thanks Classic, Why does it not surprize me that I would need a special tool to rebuild the hubs.....
With the levers mounted on the bars, and the Front derailleur on, it's really starting to take shape of a bike now

I have been fortunate and even silly in the purchase of parts. However in the end I hope I have something that I have always dreamed of owning, that being a C Record equipped Colnago.

That's too bad. I'm not paying $1100 for a frameset that has crummy paint.
Looks like I might end up looking for another sexy lugged steel frame and getting it chromed/painted. I want that Ferarri Red paint soooo bad.

When I was negotiating the levers for my project, I was told the levers were siting in an open barrel of a warehouse for many years, and that they were really grungy. I ask Nigel at Campyoldy, "How Grungy?" "Enough that they would never be totally clean" I was told.
I asked if the Aluminum was in good shape, and hes said uyes to most of them. So I asked for a picture. This is what he sent me.
I literally freaked and left it for a week.....
I then found some NOS C-Record hoods on ebay so I bought those, and decided to order the levers from Nigel. I asked that he send me the cleanest, scratch free pair he had. This is what he sent me.
By the looks of it he sent me the top left and top right pair in his picture.
When they arrived they looked much worse in person than the pictures show, and if that wasn't bad enough, the NOS Hoods that I so patted myself on the back for finding actually turned out to be a light grey rather than the C-Record White. So I had to clean these some how. I tried various rubber cleaners with no success. The my wife suggested a Mr Clean Magic Eraser
In short order, the rubber hoods were looking real fine. I'll recommend this cleaner for most white things, and it seems fairly safe too.

My Grey hood compared to the cleaned white.
