I'm getting honked at!
It's happening now several times a day! People are honking at me! What is happening to my world?
Every day now, I'll be riding along, minding my own business, and what happens? I get honked at, sometimes by people going the opposite direction! What's up with that?
The good side is, they are also waving and smiling...
Looks like I'm a local celebrity, now.

Oddly enough, I've started having this happen as well! It started happening sometime a few weeks ago. Its not like these people are coming up from behind and getting stuck behind me; no, its the people going in the opposite direction doing the honking.
Must be some cultural thing like the "wasssss up!" phase or the "deeeesss nuts" thing. I don't know. I cannot even tell if the honks are in support or in opposition to me being on the road.

I get honeked at, usually by older people on a certain stretch of road, where the shoulder is thin, and I am about on the white line. I think they are just trying to let me know they are behind. I refuse to take honking as a bad thing, unless it is followed by a finger, or flying objects.

No, this honking is different. It's like a trend; like a "honk at the cyclist" game people might play - kind of like "slugbug." Remember that? The honks aren't in rage, it cannot be from annoyance since they are on the opposite side of the street and in no way am I interfering with their progress...
I don't know. It happened today when I rode into work and I was thinking about it. It get to the office, and here's this thread from someone in Atlanta having the same thing happen... I don't really mind - it's just extra noise; I'm just curious.

Hahah, I remember the "Deeze nuts" thing...that was some good times.
I get it too, mostly the short blippy kind of honk...those "HI", or "I'm back here" kind of honks. I rarely get the long honk of annoyance.
I do get pissed at people that refuse to pass on right, and instread pass on left, then dart right in front of me to use the lane to my right.... *sigh* some auto's drivers.....
I also get far less of those "bikes don't belong in the road" spiels either.
