more love for cyclists

this posted on the local listserv . . .

A couple of my favorite photos from my 9 years in Colorado.

First, every year the Elephant Rock Century would take a great route through the Black Forest Region near Colorado Springs. A beautiful place to ride, but our presence was not always appreciated. Someone actually took the time and made the effort to write the following message at several places along the course:

Along the route of the Triple Bypass on the first mountain pass is this Share The Road sign (the bullet holes are my favorite):

Dang. The "More Love For Cyclists" title was a bit misleading...

Mabye they want the bicycles to procreate in the woods, and not on the road?

Bikes: Bridgestone RB-1. Nicely restored

Have you sent that picture of the shot road sign to the LAB?

I spent some time in Colorado springs, in 1982-1983. I've been told that today, I would not recognize it at all.

Makes you wonder about this country, doesn't it?

Bikes: 80's ross road bike/commuter, 80's team miyata, 90's haro mtb xtracycle conversion, koga mitaya world traveler

Black Forest is near my neighborhood and that reactionary response is quite lame, but.....the Black Forest area is a standard route for all sorts of road riders. People will just have to deal, cuz the cyclists aren't going anywhere. Soon enough, the road will be 4 lanes as development continues....

"No ****ing bicycles in Black Forest"

Can we be certain of its meaning without proper punctuation?

They may have meant...

"No ****ing, bicycles in Black Forest!"

or maybe

"No ****ing bicycles in black, Forest"

Punctuation is important.
