headset race...

well i was installing my new fork when i noticed that the lower crown race has actually snapped and in so the bearings do not stay in place. also when i was doing it the top cap + bearings came out of place (this didnt seam too much of a problem as it would snap back on).

so the question is: will it be easy to pick up one of these? or as the top of my headset came off as well do you think in the long run i am better with a new headset?

p.s. my headset is a 'Aheadset STS' off a 2006 kona cindercone.

i dont quite understand what the heck you're doing?? how did you snap the lower race? if it was broken from use than i would probably get a whole new HS because that means your current HS has taken a beating.

otherwise you can probably buy just the lower race...probably be a pain to do though.

and what the heck are you talking about with the upper cap and bearings?

fsa pig/pig pro. both of these are very strong, and pretty damn inexpensive as far as headsets go. one of my bikes has a cane creek S-2, and while i dont hit any huge jumps on that bike, i have no complaints as far as the headset preformance goes. it has been on that bike for almost 4 years now, and no problems. whenever i take the stem off, i give it a little love, clean it, and grease it, but other than that, its all good. the pigs are more burly, with a bigger lower bearing.
