Don't mince words
Ah, that looks like so much more fun than what I did.
A brief visit to the pain cave was in order, and just like last year, I was the bridesmaid. Yet a new PR, a pretty t-shirt and $18 took the edge off the shame of not spanking the District TT champ. (See my tongue firmly planted in my cheek. I'd rather be 1st loser to her than to some upstart.)
I have 1 more race before it a season. I hope to do more casual rides soon. I need a break.

Lost at the Hercules Pig Rodeo 60 Miles and 3770 feet climbing with Steve.
Sunday the day after Mines Rd, Along the Carquinez shoreline and a stop in Crockett then we got lost in Hercules looking for a non existent shortcut over to Castro Ranch Rd. Went through Rodeo and finally found the regular long way to Castro Ranch Rd. and then over Pig Farm hill. Hence the Title: Lost at the Hercules Pig Rodeo.

MarkoPolo has been out of town a lot lately, so we caught up today by doing the Palomares loop out of Sunol. We started at noon, so it was a tad warm, but Palomares is always lovely, the frontage road next to I-580 is always annoying, and Foothill always starts annoying and morphs into fun. And the liquor store in Sunol and the cold beverages therein was a welcome way to finish 27 point something fun miles in the sun.

With Monrezee:
Down Danville Blvd to Sycamore Valley Rd for a run all the way up that to Highland, then out to Carneal / Collier Canyon and back to Concord. 59 Miles
I really did my homework today. I studied Monrezee's back wheel, I studied his form fading away off in the distance. I studied the slowly closing gap each time I suffered to catch him briefly. He was testing me today. Pass/Fail basis. I hope I passed. Whew, It wiped me out a bit.
59 miles ridden Monrezee style:
4:30:44 turning the pedals and 4:55:43 total elapsed time.
Do the math, two very quick stops, totaling 15 minutes. The rest of the time is Go Time. He rides it like he stole it. https://app.strava.com/activities/21308631#

Around Santa Rosa on my folder "skippy" -- lost the route for "Tour de Fuzz" so just went "thataway" north until I saw some other cyclists then made a loop around the valley.
Great weather and it really does look as pretty as it looks in the new Rapha Continental film: https://www.rapha.cc/santa-rosa-with-andy-hampsten

17 mile recovery spin with Mrs. Oldstrong.
Zone Twolapalooza
Got my heart rate into Zone 3 for all of 21 seconds.
Other than that is was all Zone 1 and 2.
This was her idea, that I could use a recovery ride, and she really wanted to come with me.
I am a lucky guy. We rode the pretty rolling hills on the Martinez/Pleasant Hill border and then took the direct hobo road way home past the Shell Refinery and along Pacheco Blvd back to Concord.

Gotta love a ride with the better half, esp. when it's her/his idea. Well done.

We started out to do the shop ride, but a mile into the ride to the shop, c_gallagh got a call from work, as it was his weekend to be HMFIC. He encouraged me to keep riding as he turned around, so I did.
The shop ride was easy, fast, fun, and enough challenge that I counted it as a training ride. Arrived home craving Mexican food and a Hoptimum beer. Skipped the burrito and went for a Moylans Hopsickle beer, yum!
After a Scotch ale and a snack, c_gallagh is out on his bike, killing it in the heat and wind. I'm proud of him for getting out there when the excuses were prolific.

Did the Points today, Pt Pinole, Pt Molate, Pt Richmond, Pt Isabel and then a circle around Golden Gate Fields. Thought I had a clear ride home but ended up dodging road apples at the El Sobrante Stroll...

Valleys, Canyons and Climbs were the order of the day. The Alhambra Valley, Franklin Canyon, The Reliez Valley and 3 solid little climbs.
McKewan from Franklin, Old Briones Rd up to Briones Regional Park and Reliez Valley Rd from Withers to the top. With Monrezee.
40 Miles and 2716 feet of climbing. https://app.strava.com/runs/22232423

Did the last of CCCX races. They had the new course. Worst course ever! Yeah the pavement was fresh, but there was sand on corners, road was damp, and it had some really messed up 180 turn. Second lap lead rider went down in front of me, third lap all three lead riders went down in front of me. It was a crit with no prims, no one wanted to do any work, or go hard because road was sketchy. Without that 180 turn, and on dry pavement, with no sand it actually would have been a fun course. Anyway finished outside of upgrade points.

Getting over a cold with a little cough and nose like a faucet so I just did 17 miles roaming the rolling hills of Martinez.
Home Cold Remedy: Moderate Exercise and in the bottle on my bike:
Strong fresh brewed Iced Green Tea with 2 tablets of Zesty Orange Airborne dissolved in it.
2000 Mg of Vit. C & a little caffeine never hurt anybody + Airborne has lots of sodium, magnesium and potassium, just like Endurolytes.
Is this a P.E.D.? If it's wrong I don't wanna be right

If you don't like Bourbon, mix vodka, a fresh quartered and crushed lime, and ginger ale over ice in a tall chimney glass. It is magical.
