I am thinking of getting another bike and one way is to sell my current bike and put the money towards a new one. My current bike retails at $1,500 NZD, I have had it for 3 months and its probably done under 2,500km. New Michelin Bi-sport tyre on the rear and new sticky V-Brake pads on the front. The gears are running smooth as and the chain etc are clean as....it is Shimano Sora 39/52 front and 27-12 rear.

How much do you think I could get for it? I am selling without pedals, cages etc...

My opinion is that once a cycling item is used it is worth about 1/2 the original price if it is in decent and working condition.

A gross generalization but maybe helpful.

I'd say $450-$550 USD.

Considering how short you've had the bike, I would keep it for a while before selling it. Just like a brand new auto, your bike will depreciate alot in the first couple months, but once its a bit older, the depreciation rate will slow down alot more.

Most people shopping for used bikes are not in the market for Sora-equipped bikes anyways.

Why don't you like this bike? Does it hurt your hands, shoulders and back? Is the gearing too high? Those are things that can be worked out with a little tinkering.

It's too heavy and I feel that it hinders my ability....... i would like to keep it as a commuter and back-up bike, and to get the new bike as well......hmm decisions are hard..... I might just save my dollars and buy a second bike....... not replace the apollo

I dont think a pound or so weight reduction will make a measurable difference in your performance. You will feel a big difference accelerating from a stop and on big hills, but the time saved will only be a few seconds. What will make a much bigger difference is your training.

I would be more worried about what price you would get when you have to sell the sofa !!! Never put your bike facing the sofa with the chainring and chains etc. facing it. I did it once and almost ruined the sofa, not to mention the day ...( wife got p!ssed off quite badly)

LOL i know that much. I have become good at propping my bike up using just the pedal, when it is at the top of the stroke. That is what it is resting upon!
