So who are the SOCAL CLYDES?

I guess I make the list at 230 (currently)! We ought to organize our own climbing ride just for the clydes, forget all those skinny guys!

I know there is a list in the road cycling forum, but it would be fun to know who the SOCALERS are!

What's the cut-off, two bills? I'm 189, 5' 10". I know I'll get called a sandbagger, but I'm sticking to the Clyde spirit until jschen's posts don't say "climbing slowpoke".

200+ is the cutoff for clydesdale.. I 1st heard it when I ran 10k's where they would have clydesdale categories.. Right now I am at 245 down from 270.. Shooting for 220 by early 2007...

Good job man! 230'ish right now but when I plan on doing an organized climbing ride likeThe Bear or just riding GMR more, I go down to 220. Going down from 255 sure makes a big deefrance while climbing GMR or Baldy Rd.!

Go for it dude!

I know there is a list in the road cycling forum, but it would be fun to know who the SOCALERS are!

I am about 212, down from 225-230...
Have cracked 2 rear wheels in the 18 months I have had my bike! Bontrager Selects...Trek says they should be fine ..if this third one goes..its on to custom built wheels for me I guess...
I am terrible at climbing...I am hoping dropping some lbs will help...but have also been slowed down by a sesmoidal stress fracture in my left foot..
I rode my road bike for the 1st time in 3 weeks yesterday...was in Temecula for the weekend, otherwise would have been at the GMR ride....(had to use my mtb/hybrid on the mini metric for cool breeze)
My friend down there had a neighbor who took me and my riding buddy out (my buddy is not a clyde),he said he rides about 40 miles a week and isn't fast...guess what...a skinny sandbagger...
These guys dropped me like a hot potato...
And it was even hotter yesterday than Sat! I was going pretty good till I hit a turn and a sharp rise , downshifted and dropped my chain...ya know what comes next....pavement city....
I rode another 10-15 miles...but the 105degree heat got to me...not to mention my foot was pretty sore....so for the first time...I had to give up and call for a ride...really sucked....

So I am one sore 50 year old clyde....but I can whip these skinny guys anyday going downhill! ha!

Sorry for the long rambling post...but glad to see a socal clyde thread going!!
