Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Verus Amor.

In this world, there is in fact "true love". A love so great, not only for our passion of cycling, but for the ones we share our lives with. A love so great, we can only express it from deep within our hearts.

Wow - o - wow! Now that's an original, and from what I remember, you said it would have to have pink. Is that final form, or work in progress?

Work in progress. Actually, the pink is only the first dusted coat, so it'll appear a little darker when finished. It's all taped up right now. It's hard to tell, but it will have some significant areas of bare carbon. It has sort of a splined paint job, similar to the styling of the new 2007 Orbea Orca. Except, instead of only white, this utilizes two colors. Pearl White, and Iridescent Pearlized Pink.

That is really sweet. Your skills are really broadening and becoming quite refined - great looking job.

Any plans for graphics? Want to paint the tete?

Blech, I don't care for naked bikes at all. Kudos on the unusual color choices. I cannot wait to see it finished...keep us posted!

No plans for graphics yet.

Paint the Tete? It's almost done. Why stop now?

Besides, Dean is a far better painter than myself.

Yeah, I've ruined about a dozen bikes now. About 6 of my own, and about 6 other cheapies for practice.

A couple things I've been wondering. The person that you got this from, was he out of roseville, CA? Also, are there lawyer tabs on the fork? I can't wait to see how it looks. I'm sure it'll be as gorgeous as your other paint jobs.

^^^ Yes I believe it may be the same fella. He had several of these that he is getting rid of. They are made by ADK over in Taiwan. I'm also bummed, because he has a 58cm in stock, and the wife said I can't have one right now. Not enough cash. These are very good frames for the money.
And yes, the forks have the lawyer tabs.

Not much else has gone on in the last week. Just taped over existing white, and gave it a couple more light coats of pink.

The color is starting to show a little better now.

Still more pink to come.

Movin' right along.

The pink is done and the tape is removed. Now I just have to clean it up and shoot it with some clear. It's kind of nice to see the basic design emerged once the tape is removed.

Next..... the forks.

I was digging it until I saw the Hearts

Still a nice job with lots of style, and it is a work of love for your wife, so I suppose I can dig it again

wow that's the first custom paint job ive seen that i really like. nice job! you've inspired me to consider painting my own frame. I'm wondering how durable that paint job is. Are you going to put any sort of clear coat? If it's durable I may very well do this.

Very, very nice. Very distinct and unique with a great balance. She's gonna be ultra sweet with the shiny clear.

How about the plan for the fork?

I have an initial plan for the fork, but have yet to begin painting it. I'm going to clear coat the frame first, then sit on the fork for a bit. I want to make sure it matches the frame just right, or it will look off balance. Since the rear of the bike has alot of white, I'm thinking the fork will have more pink.

I 'm also considering painting the integrated handlebars and the carbon seatpost.
