Yesterday's race Photos

Well, yesterday i was in my first 8 hour race with a friend. We came 22nd out of 31 lol. But it was still alot of fun and plan to do many more. Anyway, here are some pics from the race, my family couldn't get into the trails so these pics are on the 1km finish. The course was very technical, almost too technical and about 80% was on singletrack. At Hardwood Hills(where the race took place) they classify the trails in order of difficulty. The order is Sprockids, Fun, Serious, Sidewinder, Gnarly, Radical. Almost all of the race was on gnarly and sidewinder with about 500m of radical. During the summer it is on mostly fun and serious. All in all it was a great race and i had a very fun time. Next year i'll be doing all the 8 hour races at Hardwood.

Here are the pics:
Me hopping on my bike for my first lap.
Taking off
Coming around a corner

Finish, me walking with my partner who is already done.

I might have a few more and i'll post those soon.

Haha thanks alot guys. And i hate that jersey. Mainly because i'm from Canada and my cycling club pretty much just copied the USA jersey. Nothing against the USA, but i would much rather have a jersey that sported canadian colours.

Congratulations on a great first race (at least first 8 hour race). Hopefully this is the first of many!

I will post up some pictures once they get posted on the web by the company that took them for the race(chico racing I think). This was NOT that technical, maby opinion....but most of the single track was on none of the normal race trails(across the road was like 70% of single track). The stuff you were riding that was part of the wednesday night series, was part of Serious, and Sidewinder, and the last about 400m of single track was on part of radical and gnarly(which wasnt very hard, just a 30ft downhill over roots).

I dont know how I finished, I was falling asleep at the awards, so I left. This was my first 8 hour solo, it hurt, 9 laps later I was ready to pack it in. I was hoping to get in 10 laps, but due to a 7h30min last lap cutoff I couldnt go back out for one more.

Each lap was 10km of pretty tame single track with a bunch of double track for the first 2-3km.

Great race! Thanks for the report. Is it my imagination or has the racing bug bit the BF?

I noticed that most of the the singletrack wasn't stuff i had seen before. But i figured that was just because i had never riden gnarly before. I found it somewhat technical, but that is probably because i can't even do sidewinder at race pace. I did a few races in the wednesday night series, but they were on serious.

It's funny, I noticed it too, we are from Hamilton ONTARIO C A N A D A! represent, and he has the tacky team america get-up, my team's jersey on the other hand is way too obvious...but a nice jersey yes? That was the one I wore on race day, If you haven't figured it out, I was Roxter's partner for the race XD

The Jersey

I knew it, I thought that your sig was a hammerhead uniform..... I have had some good and bad experiances with you guys.....but that is neither here nor there.

Do either of you know where the race pictures are? I was told that the people out on the course taking pictures of everyone is a company that you can buy the pics from, and I was wondering if you guys know.

Right now I live in Borden, but I am expecting to be moving to the base in Edmonton this winter. Though I was initially told the move would be this past summer...so who knows when it will be.

I mostly race wednesday nights at Hardwood, and a place called Mountainview in Midland(30 minutes north of barrie.
