heading out west soon

Hi everyone, my name is courtland and i plan on doing an ultralight trip from orlando florida to san fransisco california in about 3-5 weeks. I am going to go thru birmingham alabama and oklahoma, phoenix az, and possibly thru amarillo texas to see the caddilac ranch

other than that my route is still up in the air, any info or anyone who would like to do short legs with me, or maybe just grabbing coffee would be awesome

Good luck. Have a wonderful trip. If you want to take a short detour to Canada I'll buy you lunch...=-)

While you are riding in shorts enjoying the sunshine don't forget to think of us Cannucks shovelling out driveways.

Good luck on your tour but...

But... you will have some very, very cold nights with that route. North Texas gets bitter cold in December and January at night, especially in Amarillo where the average low is 24F in Dec with near zero temps very possible. The record low for Amarillo in Dec is -8 F. Then thrown in the wind that will be constantly blowing out there once the trees disappear. And it will be colder in the mountains.

So be prepared for a few bitter cold days.

When I did my SC to TX tour last year, I swung more south then that and still had freezing temps in March.

I wish you well on your tour. Keep a journal for us!
