Quality of the BikE

I have an older BikE recumbent. The seat weld is broken but I think I can weld it. What would a bike like this be worth? No, I didn't steal it, it's my dad's. Otherwise it is in good shape.

A standard Bike-E CT in good shape seems to go for around $300-350. The ATs go for a bit more.

They are great bikes and worth a whole lot more than they sell for. Not something I would buy as an investment, but if you want a nice CWLB bent and find a BikeE in good condition grab it.

Make sure that seat will be ok. There was a large BikeE recall due to a safety issue: broken seats.

Seat

Can I just buy a new Bike-E seat? How much do they go for?

Bike-E is no longer in business, so you may or may not be able to find a new seat.

The seats just need a weld reinforced. Its not a huge deal.

I'm a Bike-E owner. I suggest posting your question on the Yahoo Bike-E User's group. There are quite a few people, and even shops that have a lot of parts. I'd be willing to bet that somebody responds with a seat.

One thing I really like about the Bike-E, is the way you can really load it down, and it still performs very well. I rode a couple centuries on it this last year, with tent, sleeping bag, food, clothing, etc. It performed like a champ.

Also, I have some stickers that fit the Bike-E perfectly, let me know if you'd like a few (on me). I've attached a few pictures, one of the stickers, and another of my Bike-E loaded down.
