Decent price for a Rocky Mtn. Vertex

I'm asking for a friend who wants to sell her 2000 Rocky Mtn. Vertex (I'm more familiar with Road flavored bikes) and wants to price it "realistically". It's extremely clean and low mileage, has an upgraded Bomber front fork and otherwise looks to be stock with primarily RaceFace components and some SRAM and Shimo stuff, too. She says she paid $2500 new, it's been tuned up...what does the market say it's worth today? TIA.

Haha, I like the "low mileage" thing. As in "rode it to church on Sundays" Mountain bikers are in general, I think, a bit more weary of buying used equipment than roadies, as the stuff just doesn't last as long to begin with. Without the specifics I can't say much more, but start at a grand or a bit over and be prepared to move a bit on the price.

I would do a search on ebay for completed auctions. As for the upgraded fork I wouldn't expect it to bring any extra money. I would hope for $1,000 at best. But to be realistic it is a seven year old mountain bike, it's not going to go for much.
