grinding on a mtb
Hey, I am getting into a bit more street stuff lately and I was wondering how you grind on a mtb. I've seen people doing it before but I'm not sure what part of the bike they grind on?

Usually their front wheel is rolling on the platform while their bashguard is sliding along the ledge, its not true grinding like on BMX pegs. You need a bashguard to do it.

Like stated above you use your bash guard or your pedal to grind. Be prepared to get some nasty scratches and possibly dents on your frame.
Also if your looking into buying a bash guard now, make sure you get an E13/ plastic one. They slide much easier.

Yeah thats what I was thinking but I wann be sure. I've already got a plastic bashgaurd but I think I'll have to replace it because its got a crack but I don't think I'll be using my pedals, I don't want to wear the pins down and I don't want to spend any more money on pedals.

if u wanna pedal grind, invest in some pedals that u can fit grind plates on - that will save u wearing down the pins
also, most pedales u can replace the pins if u need to

If your going to be griding in skateparks, on wood, steel, or benches you dont need guards.
I'v been grinding all summer on my BMX, rodeo grinds, pedal grinds, feebles, double pegs, ice picks, smiths, evrything. And my pedals arent worn down, pedal grind plates are a solution to a problem that doesnt exist.
All they really do is make you slide faster on pedal grinds on materials like wood and skatelite.
