Perhaps an odd request for this forum, but does anyone know of someone who had/rides a lowrider in Tokyo? Or if there's a lowrider organization in Tokyo. I saw a load of lowrider bikes in Tokyo for the bike show, but I can't finding their HQ now.
(I mean this kind of bike: https://www.bicycledesigner.com/origi..._lowrider.html)

mostly a Nikon D80 with an old (well, 1986) 1.8 50mm lens, or for research days a 18-200VR.
and sometimes a Canon S80 digi point and shoot. most of the stuff posted on this site is from the D80, but lately I have been going light with the little Canon.

yeah....a blueish black HKK Vertex would have done it for me. the girl was really cool though.
The bag: it had details like a Resistant, but it was something else...... I forget what, but they had them at Blue Lug for a bit. I think it was well into the $200+ range.

yesterday was great. morning with le girlfriend, afternoon at sumo, then walked to Asakusa and caught the tail end of the Sanja-matsuri AND Punch Cycles was open! so I drooled over bikes, thought about getting a Maeda made, and was happy to see the only other Venus I've ever seen in real life. pics of the madness at Punch in a bit (still in my camera). here is a nice ride from Shinbashi last week:

First post, long time lurker and I've been riding for over a year since living getting involved with bikes again when I was working in Chicago.
I moved to Tokyo about two months ago and I've been bikeless since then. I left my miyata conversion and iro build back in the US.
Any ideas where I can piece together a semi affordable bike here? The only bike shops I've run across are small commuter shops. I'm also 6'4", so I'm wondering if I can find a frame here easily.
I've done some looking for shops but between work, study and sleep I haven't found much.
I'm in Shinjuku.
cheers

I plan on watching the Tour de Japan this Sunday the 25th that finishes in Tokyo and hope to get there early enough to get a nice spot. Oh just curious if any of you guys in the Tokyo area are attending the amateur race day at the Keiokaku Velodrome on the 1st of June. I will be watching the races but I missed the deadline to register to race myself.

6'4"!
Depends what type of frame you want. Not keirin hopefully!
I guess you do say affordable.
Ok

There's a list of the main fixed only/porn shops. There's also Y's Road for general stuff in Shinjuku Sanchome, Joker's near it, Tokyu Hands in Takashiyama Times Square (although only the Shibuya one has a track/fixed section) and Sekiya Cycles is decent (https://www.sekiya-cycle.com/shop.html). Also a really nice guy gave me a free shimano 600 brake at mixpression (sadly I only realised it was rear when I got home), who has a shop called cycle paradise (www.cypara.com) with used stuff. Haven't been though.

I'll check out some of the shops in Shinjuku and Shibuya when I get a day off, maybe Ill come home with a bike..
As for cheap, I'm just not really looking to spend over 100k yen for something to mess around town on. A conversion or used ride would do me just fine. And as for keirin, I'm not to concerned. I'm just hoping I can find something in the 60cm range.
As cool as those frames are, I just want to ride. I'm sick of walking and taking the subway to work/around town. I also hate having to wait for the first train, I need some 3am mobility.
If any of you have word on a frame/bike for sale around here my size, shoot me a pm.
