I'm in the same boat as you but, i need a 650c track wheelset. I have some brands in mind but I'm not that sure if I want to go with Mavic Open Pros or Velocities (either Aeroheads or Deep V's).

I think a deep V would be WAY too intense as a 650c.

The idea has crossed my mind for its been somewhat hard to find a 650c track wheelset. Also, i ride with a freewheel so it would be nice to find a wheelset that has machined sidewalls.

The whole idea of building my own seems like fun. I would like to learn.

Might consider tubular ... I've got a set of Velocity Pro Elite (the tubular version of the Deep V) waiting to be built up for my tri bike, cost me $10 each from Ben's on fleabay, and a couple sets of Conti tubulars which were around $30 per pair also via the 'bay. No one wants 650c tubular stuff anymore, hence cheaposity

I said it as matter-of-factly as possible. No disrespect, 'specially with a ride so kickass

MArcus has a set of rims for 650 use - you could prolly call him and inquire and then get a set of hubs of your choosing too!

I might just do that. The sad thing is that I've never been to Yojimbos. I heard that he's a nice guy.

and you live in Chicago and then you post in this dump??? SHAAAAAAAchifg.comAAAAmmmmee on you!

this place will only harass you for being new and asking questions or tell you to put some crappy, trendy tri-spoke POS on your frame.

Marcus knows the deal and will steer you in the right direction.
