650 front wheel on a pista concept
i have a 2003 pista concept that i'm building up. it's a 48. anyway, i have a chance to buy a really cheap 650 wheel but the frame is not pursit bike. can i use the wheel or would that cause a huge problem. i might just save up the extra money and get the 700 front, but i was just wondering

you could, but you'd lower the bb fractionally and throw the geo off. you'd also have a bigger gap between the tire and fork crown, unless you changed the fork too, which would negate the savings, presumably. plus, why you asking these folks instead of your wiser friends on the ny board dd?

Dylandom,
The main issue will be the lowering of your bottom bracket. Depending on how bad you're looking at pedal strike, and the length of your cranks, you will be fine. The only real reason to run 650's is for barspins and other silly human tricks.

hmmm 1 cm in bb drop on a bike with a high bb or 2.5 degrees steeper on a bike with already steep angles. I'm going with ****ing up the ht angle as being the main issue. 2.5 degrees in the other direction is the difference between your concept and a pretty relaxed roadie by the way.

it will work but you mess with the trail of the bike and make it handle all funny I guess if you don't have to turn its ok
