Looking for touring gear in NZ...
I'm looking for a new rain jacket, some new shoes (size US 13, euro 48) and some new Birkenstock blue footbed shoe inserts in NZ. I'll be heading to Auckland in a week or two, where I'm hoping to pick this stuff up (currently in Whangarei, where the biggest shoe in town is a 45!) I was wondering if you guys could suggest any good shops in auckland for the the shoes and inserts, and any good coat brands. (I should have bought a MEC cycling jacket while I was in Canada.)

If you had time the https://www.groundeffect.co.nz storm tropper jacket is good but its mail order only
take about 2 days as they are in christcurch
as for places in auckland can't help you much but there are a couple on queen street
where you can get a jacket
bivouac.co.nz
www.tisdalls.co.nz
mountaindesigns.com
and of course kathmandu also on queen street
there is also Birkenstock shop on queen street
most of these are at towards the bottom end

Hey thanks!
I'm thinking of getting one of those GE jackets, I'm a little worried it will be too heavy duty. (I'm looking for something that will *keep* the rain out, but I don't need much/any padding.
That's a great list, thanks. I'll be in Auckland in a week, I'll defintiely check out those shops then..

i can second the ground effect jacket ... the storm trooper isn't that heavy and really keeps the rain out, plus it folds into its own rear pocket and can be worn as a bumbag or placed into a pannier ... have had mine for 6 years or so, and it is still going strong ...
another good one is krank dirtwears one ...
