moving near sydney soon
so, i'm moving near sydney (within an hour of) and i'm curious about a few things that maybe you guys could help me out with. i joined the sydney BMA forums but havent gotten approved yet and im too anxious to wait.
are messenger jobs easy to get for americans?
what are the pay rates for a messenger?
are there and bicycle co-ops i can get a cheap track/road/fixie type bike (or does anyone have one laying around they dont want that i can arrange to have picked up? )?
are your experiences as a messenger there positive?
any suggestions/tips/otherwise will be greatly appreciated.
thanks!
soon to be australian,
mike

You will only find messenger work in the CBD I would assume? Living 1 hour from the Sydney CBD would give you quite a commute on a daily basis.
If you have your heart set on Sydney then so be it. However I would investigate similar employment opportunities in Melbourne. It is by far a more enjoyable city to live in and you are likely to obtain much more convenient accommodation IMHO.
Good Luck with it anyway.

Just to add to what secondsaway has said .... Melbourne is also far more bicycle friendly than Sydney.
Where in Sydney will you be living - one hour by train covers a lot of territory.
