What do you mean 'ready to ride'???? I've BEEN riding. Will be riding tomorrow, as well. Maybe not my full commute, but at least 10 miles.

I also have a lot of dog poo buried in the snow. Will be interesting when it all melts.

Plan on biking to work Tues-Fri as long as the weather report holds out.

I'm trying not to think of this morning as shoveling snow... I'm watering my lawn. A shovel-full at a time.

While not as manly as bmclaughlin807, I did manage 2 commutes last week using my all street route to union station. Now I need to wait a day or two until the route reopens after the last snow. I can't wait until the entire route melts. I miss my ride to Orchard. So sick of the bus and light rail.

DJ you're in thornton correct? I would love to hear how you get yourself downtown without: A. Getting yourself ran over and B. getting robbed, jacked, or shanked while riding thru the hood.

Let me know k.

We have a hood?
Much of my ride is in industrial areas early in the morning when most evil doers are asleep.
I have a few different routes.
Adams county's sheriffs do not seem to appreciate me riding on the platte before dusk.

Route 1: mostly trails
1) 120th and Colorado. Take Colorado south to the platte trail head at 88th.
2) Ride the Platte to the Cherry Creek or exit the Platte at the skate park and head to Union Station for the light rail.
3) Take the Cherry Creek to Downing.
4) Many streets to Orchard.
I have another route that takes me down DTC blvd when I feel like heavier traffic.

Route 2: more streets connecting with the Platte. This one makes the Sheriff happy.
1) Take Colorado to Thornton Pkwy.
2) Welby to 88th.
3) South on Devonshire.
4) Turns into York.
5) York down to 58th.
6) 58th to Franklin
7) Franklin to the Platte Trail behind the armory.
8) and on...

Route 3: All streets
1) Same as above except stay on York.
2) Connect with Brighton Blvd.
3) Brighton Blvd to 31st
4) 31st to the first left
5) Follow this street to Union station. Not exactly sure about the name of the streets.

Anyhow, I've been riding #3 due to the state of the trails and my encounter with a sheriff deputy. However, I prefer #1 and #2 much more.
I think I may go back to riding #1 and be watchful of the one spot Adams County's Sheriffs can see me where the Platte meets York.

In order to avoid cursing myself, I will not state any crime related stats related to my experiences. What I will say is that crime in these areas is drastically overstated. Especially on the Platte trail. *crosses fingers*

You must be a tad further east than I am. I was pondering Federal south to Speer and taking that into downtown. But I don't think that's gonna work at 3am. What do you think? LOL.

Was the Sheriff's Adam's CO.?

Yes, Adams County. Wonderful man was treating me like a criminal for using a trail at 5:30 am.
I am roughly 120th and Colorado. So, yes further east.

I do not know about Federal to Speer. Federal is an..... interesting street. Eeek! Of course, they say the same thing about Brighton Blvd.
Personally, I would say the heck with the sheriff and ride a street route to the SE that eventually meets up with the Platte. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with that area going into downtown. How about pecos? I have ridden it north of 80th and it seems fine. Not sure about south.

You could try to meet up with one of Denver's bike routes like D-3 and make your way towards downtown.

Bike routes are a fairly safe way of getting around. It's just getting to one that may be interesting for you.

We did a Club Hypoxia ride on the Clear Creek Bikeway Saturday morning on ROAD BIKES! :O
The trail was not in as good of shape as I had been lead to believe. Needless to day that it was a good test of bike handling skills.
