has anyone dealt with this paint? im looking to repaint one of my rides white and would appreciate any input on durability and ease of use compared to other rattle cans. thanks in advance.

I don't know about the Appliance series, but Rustoleum and it's side brands (Painters Touch, American Accents) are by far the best paint on the market. Krylon vintage paint (Borden era, as in anything before the 90's) is semi-comparable if you can find a nice color of it on eBay (could be $$$) but other than that, most modern cans of Krylon are just way watery compared to Rustoleum, but Krylon still has a few winners, just ask around on any graffiti forum as to what's good and what's not.

So yeah, sorry to go off on the tangent but yes, Rustoleum is the only paint you should be using on your bike, don't forget to sand, prime and clearcoat too.

P.S. American Accents has the sexiest colors ever.

the appliance stuff is rad. it dries to that hard enamel look like on stove tops. just enough gloss too. never used it on a bike, but it worked great on an old steel shop cabinet.

I used it to paint the rear triangle on my beater conversion - it's held up pretty well, considering that I'm ruthless to the bike. So far, it has hardly shown a chip. Use it.

Sounds like someone likes to get down with aerosol art... though I always preferred Spanish Montana over Belton myself.

I like spanish montana too but the german **** is only good for wacky colors, that stuff does pretty well with frames too

Eh... they're both great but for what they were designed for: graffiti. Montana and Rusto aren't that far away in thickness, but you win with Montana if you want to use it for illegal reasons because you can get way fatter caps to work with it... Painting a bike frame, I couldn't see shelling out the extra money for Montana unless you're really liking a color they have, because stock caps work fine in the context of frame painting.

Those Euro colors are awesome but they fade way quicker than Rusto. For durability I would go for Rusto flat white.

I'm not a fan of the appliance paint for bikes. First, you have to do all of your painting within two hours or so. After that you have to let the paint sit for a week (or longer!) before you do any touch-ups, or else it will cause the surrounding paint to blister. That means no two-tone paint jobs unless you're really patient. Second, the finish turns out like an egg shell...very hard, until you crack it then it kind of disintegrates. I scraped my chainstay on the corner of a brick wall and the paint fell off in little chunks alll the way down to the primer. I'm gonna go with automotive paint+clearcoat next time I paint a frame.

I always liked Krylon but I can't remember who it is but I'd ask this guy what kind of spray can paint he used
