New suspension fork

I have a 2006 rockhopper, and the fork is pretty pittifull, i was wondering what forks yall would recomend in the same travel range as the stock rockhopper fork, id like to save up and get a fork that i will like enough to keep when i upgrade my frame, but i dont want to spend 500 dollars on it.

Recon $300
Tora $250

I have a Tora on my RH, and honestly im pretty happy with it. I think buck for buck, its one of the better offerings on the market. Worth looking at if you're on a budget.

well of course im on a budget, but im willing to wait and increase the budget to where it needs to be. Im 150 pounds and would like to get a fair amount of travel from the fork. most forks ive seen are too stiff for me, idk, maybe its jsut cheap ones

Whats your budget?
How much travel do you think you want?
What kind of riding will you be doing?

If you search ebay for a Rockshox Tora, you will find a good deal on a Tora Solo SL Air (hint, hint)...they don't make the air sprung version anymore therefore this is probably the lightest Tora that was made. (as far as I know) The others are coil sprung and boat anchors, but they do work well.

I must say, the Tora is a great fork for the buck. The Motion Control damper actually works, the 32mm stanchions are stiff, the rebound is effective, the lockout works like a champ...it's just a great budget fork. It's basically a Reba with steel stanchions (instead of aluminum) and the external floodgate adjustment. I'm pretty sure that everything else is the same.

The only reason there's a Tora Solo SL Air on eBay right now is b/c the owner just had a new kid and is parting out his/her hardtail. (boohoo)
