Another tubeless tire question.
I know I have asked a similar question to this before.------
Has anyone done any combos of tubeless tires.. like a Scorpion in front with the Python in back? They don't have to be the "Hutchinson" brand.
I want a good set up for mountain riding. Colorado. I have an XC bike and the tubeless pythons are great, I just want to know if I should switch over to something different while I'm out in the “Rockeys”.

I've tried all SORTS of combos in tubeless. I've run Michelin Jet S semi slicks, Michelin XLS in front and rear, the XLS in the rear, and the Front S in the front, the Hutchinson Pythons front and rear, Panaracer Trailblasters front and rear... all sorts of stuff. And the most solid performers I could find were the Michelin XLS in the rear and the Front S in the front. I guarantee if you run those tires you WONT be disappointed reguardless of the terrain. They work in loose sand, deep, sticky, mud, roots, rock gardens, everything.

I've tried a few myself, but the Pythons ought to do fine out there. I rode there last summer on Pythons with no problems. Remember to carry a tube and if you have to patch the tire, scrape the area to be patched very well or the patch won't stick.

Yeah, I don't know what it is with me and the Pythons but I've had some terrible luck. I have patched the rear (which is now trash as a result of a ripped sidewall) tire 3 times and just had to patch the front today. The rear tire (Python tube) I was borrowing for the ride today also ended up with a sidewall slit. Luckily it was at the end of the 23 mile Berryman ride.
If I wouldn’t keep flatting these tires would have been great.. they are fast and hold up awesome for the races but when it comes to just hitting the trails, there they go.

I haven't seen any tubeless street tires in production yet. But when they're made, I imagine they'll be the envy of roadies everywhere

The best all around tubless I've run out here has been the Python...on an NRS-1. And I'm not easy on my stuff either! I cracked an NRS frame...

Well, these are the tires I picked up.. Pricepoint.com -$44.98 for both!
And I couldn't forget these guys.. sad though, there is a backorder on them for over 60 days!!! So if all else fails I will have them waiting for me when I get home. Great price on them at Supergo.com – 27.95 for Hutchinson-Python-UST
Thx to those of you who helped me out on different sites to shop from around the net I believe that I got some good deals... I don't think I could have done the same at the LBS' around here. But don't worry, I still haven't forgotten them.

Around here the equivalent tires run 60 dollars APIECE! I'm all for supporting the LBS, but not when I have to pay twice as much for the same thing!

Yeah, that was a feeble attempt at throwing a hook out to the LBS for them to lower their prices!!!!

I don't feel guilty in the least for trying to make my money go the farthest. Going to the LBS for small things that I need right away is about the only time I go there. Sometimes they act ****ty to you if you bring in stuff you've bought online.. just one more reason for me to maintenance my own bike.
