Recommendations for my 70's Superbe Group

I've been waiting for a frame to put my Suntour Superbe Group on but have not seen anything lately to speak of. Really I've been looking for the top end Japanese frames but curious what the forum would do. Wait for that period correct Japanese frame or put the group on something else that would be period correct. Need Thoughts. Thanks.

Take your time. Wait for something that really gets your pulse up. I am partial to 3Rensho, but a Zunow would be way cool as would the previously mentioned Raleigh Superbe.

I don't know that you have to stick to Japanese frames ... a lot of the British lightweights of that era were sold as framesets only, and while you certainly see most of them built up with Nuovo Record or Super Record, you also see quite a few with Shimano 600, Shimano Golden Arrow, early Dura-Ace, and Superbe. While it's not period correct, I've got a pristine Shimano 600 Arabesque group which I'm going to use on a '70's Bob Jackson which I'm restoring. I think it'll look just fine, thank you, and should work pretty well, too.

That's what the Bossman said to me when we had a conversation a few weeks back. Funny you should say a "Zunow Hummingbird" as there was one on CL near me about 6 months back. Beautiful Bike by the way. I just get impatient. While we're on the talk of Superbe, look at this auction I was eyeing yesterday. Can't believe the price these arms went for.

eBay is funny. I wanted gold Simplex Super LJ for a long time, and watched used RDs going for over $150. Then the bottom drops out and I watched an NOS set go for under $200. I bought a very nice RD for around $75, then proceeded to get two FD and a RD for $75. Then a month later the prices were back in the stratosphere. Superbe seems to go the same way. Superbe Pro gets really crazy.

I recently sold a set of the gold decal oil clip superbe hubs on the bay. They went for over $100, a set of record oil clip low flange used would definitely NOT sell for that much, but I guess they are much more abundant.

They're not suberbe pro either and they are the exact same as super mighty cranks (I'm sure they are manufactured by sugino).. incidently the superbe hubs I mentioned in an above post came from a Zunow.

Just curious as to what point you are trying to make when you say "They're not suberbe pro either" . . . and "I'm sure they are manufactured by sugino" . . .

I think he's saying that accounts for some of the difference in the prices in the eBay auctions.

It was mentioned that some of the prices are surprising of late and I was just commenting on the fact that the auction says they are superbe pro and they clearly are not. In addition, I was pointing out that these cranks are not even particularly special as they are just re branded super mighty (which are beautiful cranks). I mentioned the sugino part so that someone could correct me if I am wrong, though I am still pretty sure. I did mention at the end however that they do say superbe on them and that can be important to a detail fanatic. I myself and somewhat victim to this. I have strada cranks on my pista but want to get pista cranks. They look the same from the outside and will do the job equally well I just have this "it's not 100%" thing nagging in the back of my mind.

Edit: P.s. I think you bought my shoes, I am glad they fit you.
