The Hilton Head Island bikepaths suck for anything more then casual cruiseing. There is a few serious group rides on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The Tuesdays and Thursdays rides start at Bike Doctor on Matthews Dr. Tuesdays aren't really fast and is only 17 miles. Thursdays are fast and around 30 miles. I've only heard about riding on Sunday afternoons, since I usually work on Sundays and don't get the chance to ride.
I've never ridden in Savannah. Contact a shop called Bicycle Link in Savannah for information there.
I live nearby in Beaufort and have some nice routes around here and out into Colleton County, SC.
